The challenges of glass weaving
During the weaving process, each reed is under heavy wear factors. These factors are far more aggressive in case of glass fibre weaving, causing faster wear of vital components, a shorter reed lifespan and risks of damaging the yarn. Both warp and weft yarn cause abrasion, each different in nature and result.

Better dents, better reed
Based on Burcklé’s extensive experience GTP Global Textile Partner is today able to offer a lifespan of the reeds, which is 5 times longer than standard quality reed. Allowing you to produce high quality fabrics without breakdowns. The Burcklé dents are better resistant against all abrasion. They do not damage your yarns and allow you to deliver products of the highest quality. Following pictures compare the dent surfaces of a regular and Burcklé glass weaving reed after weaving 140.000 meter of abrasive yarn. Please note that even a minor damage of the dent surface will cause pilling.
